Narrative:
On takeoff roll; below 80 KTS; [we received an] ECAM 'engine 2 compressor vane'. Captain assumed control of the aircraft and aborted. Autobrakes engaged and we could hear sounds of compressor stall. We advised flight attendants to remain seated. As we exited the runway; ECAM 'engine 2 fail'. Egt was red and we accomplished all ECAM steps; including suspected damage. We checked the brake temperatures; and with no other adverse indications; we taxied to the gate. We had ground crew chock the aircraft and released the brakes to cool them.
