Narrative:
Before flight I checked with first officer and determined that we were both current through air carrier revision X. I cleared out my mailbox on sun night, 2/89, and first officer cleared out his mailbox wed night 2/89 (late) at lck. Phx gave us the mobie 8 SID. Captain and first officer both selected inadvertently the mobie 2 SID and flew it. This was the current one in our books, and we didn't notice it wasn't mobie 8!. After departure control saw we were tracking the wrong SID and gave us some immediate turns and vectors, they did not indicate any enforcement action. The mobie 8 SID became effective on 2/thurs/89 and is in air carrier rev Y, but we had it not. Air carrier company publications department apparently was late with revisions.
