Narrative:
Stt, known for turbulence, was reporting wind shear all quadrants. The large carriers had suspended flts temporarily. Local traffic was operative. We landed there earlier. Upon return, at decision height, experienced a severe updraft and subsequent downdraft. We elected to go around. Even with full power in takeoff mode, we lost all lift and experienced a hard landing. With full power we taxied off runway and found that left shock rubber plug, one of two, was damaged. Our company thereupon cancelled all flts. Continued with poor results, then suspended also. When WX improved all went back to normal. Our maintenance came over, replaced the rubber plug and aircraft was flown home. It is now going through a hard landing inspection for which I wrote in discrepancy log.
