Narrative:
Clearance was pondd intersection; tafto intersection; flm VOR then the tandy 3 arrival. Pondd intersection was inserted manually into the FMS as ponnd which resulted in a 10 mile error when la center noticed the deviation. La center issued a heading to fly with no traffic incursion. The error was a result of the close proximity of both intersections with similar spellings. No traffic issues resulted from the error.

Title: A flight crew reported a track deviation in ZLA airspace after entering PONND Intersection in the FMS when the clearance was to a nearby PONDD Intersection.
Narrative: Clearance was PONDD Intersection; TAFTO Intersection; FLM VOR then the TANDY 3 arrival. PONDD Intersection was inserted manually into the FMS as PONND which resulted in a 10 mile error when LA Center noticed the deviation. LA Center issued a heading to fly with no traffic incursion. The error was a result of the close proximity of both intersections with similar spellings. No traffic issues resulted from the error.
