Narrative:
We were descending VFR to X07 from the southwest. We turned a high wide base to final turn at about 8 miles out to the active runway 35. We announced our position over unicom then nd at about 1.5 mi final. As we were flaring we saw a glider and tow plane being prepared for launch at the departure end of 17. At that point our only recourse was to land and stop. We were able to turn off about the halfway point on the runway without any problem. Specific recommendations: fly the full VFR airport traffic pattern as recommended in the aim. There needs to be better communication from the glider club to inbound traffic, alerting them to the fact that glider operations are in progress and which runway gliders are launching. They were launching on runway 17, against the runway 35 given by unicom a collision was not imminent but it sure got our attention.
