Narrative:
Clearance for climb was 'takeoff runway 13, turn to 175 degrees, climb at V2+10 until 1500', then left to 040 degrees, climb to 5000'.' after takeoff, first officer turned to 175 degrees, started climb, but airspeed was V2+30 (rate of climb 2500 FPM) due to light weight. He pulled nose up to reduce to V2+10 (4200 FPM). Captain told him to turn to 040 degrees by left turn. First officer stated he should make a right turn to 340 degrees, captain said no, left to 040 degrees. At this time departure asked for our altitude, and a left turn ot 040 degrees. Altitude was 3900' as left turn begun, then given admonishment by departure because of jfk airspace. Also given 340 degree vector. Rest of departure uneventful. No traffic conflicts known, WX clear and VMC. Left turn to 040 degrees from 175 degrees should have been made at 1500', not 3900' MSL.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR WDB DEVIATED FROM CLRNC ROUTE, FAILED TO FOLLOW SID OUT OF LGA CAUSING UNAUTH PENETRATION OF JFK ATA.
Narrative: CLRNC FOR CLB WAS 'TKOF RWY 13, TURN TO 175 DEGS, CLB AT V2+10 UNTIL 1500', THEN LEFT TO 040 DEGS, CLB TO 5000'.' AFTER TKOF, F/O TURNED TO 175 DEGS, STARTED CLB, BUT AIRSPD WAS V2+30 (RATE OF CLB 2500 FPM) DUE TO LIGHT WT. HE PULLED NOSE UP TO REDUCE TO V2+10 (4200 FPM). CAPT TOLD HIM TO TURN TO 040 DEGS BY LEFT TURN. F/O STATED HE SHOULD MAKE A RIGHT TURN TO 340 DEGS, CAPT SAID NO, LEFT TO 040 DEGS. AT THIS TIME DEP ASKED FOR OUR ALT, AND A LEFT TURN OT 040 DEGS. ALT WAS 3900' AS LEFT TURN BEGUN, THEN GIVEN ADMONISHMENT BY DEP BECAUSE OF JFK AIRSPACE. ALSO GIVEN 340 DEG VECTOR. REST OF DEP UNEVENTFUL. NO TFC CONFLICTS KNOWN, WX CLR AND VMC. LEFT TURN TO 040 DEGS FROM 175 DEGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE AT 1500', NOT 3900' MSL.
