Narrative:
Active runway was 27 and I was cleared to this runway. There was some delay receiving clearance to an intersection departure and after this was cleared up I taxied on to the runway headed in the opposite direction (9). The tower observed the error and stopped me before I began to roll. There was an medium large transport on approach to the runway about 3 1/2 miles out that was told to go around which he did. I turned around to 27 and took off with no further problems. How this could have been prevented, I don't know. It does little good to say that closer attention would have prevented it. Maybe there should be more importance given to repeating the proper runway heading.

Title: AFTER RECEIVING CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POSITION ON THE RWY FOR A TKOF TO THE WEST THE REPORTER BECAME CONFUSED AND LINED UP ON THE RWY TO DEPART TO THE EAST. THE ONLY APPARENT CONSEQUENCE WAS A GO AROUND BY AN ACFT ON APCH TO THE WEST.
Narrative: ACTIVE RWY WAS 27 AND I WAS CLRED TO THIS RWY. THERE WAS SOME DELAY RECEIVING CLRNC TO AN INTXN DEP AND AFTER THIS WAS CLRED UP I TAXIED ON TO THE RWY HEADED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION (9). THE TWR OBSERVED THE ERROR AND STOPPED ME BEFORE I BEGAN TO ROLL. THERE WAS AN MLG ON APCH TO THE RWY ABOUT 3 1/2 MILES OUT THAT WAS TOLD TO GO AROUND WHICH HE DID. I TURNED AROUND TO 27 AND TOOK OFF WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. HOW THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED, I DON'T KNOW. IT DOES LITTLE GOOD TO SAY THAT CLOSER ATTN WOULD HAVE PREVENTED IT. MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE MORE IMPORTANCE GIVEN TO REPEATING THE PROPER RWY HDG.
