Narrative:

This event took place at gso during an far 135 check ride required to satisfy far 135.293, far 135.299, and far 135.297. We had just completed a practice ILS 23 approach, executed a full stop landing, and taxied back to the approach end of runway 23, where we were holding short of the runway awaiting clearance for takeoff. When we advised gso tower that we were ready for takeoff on runway 23, the controller advised us that we would have to wait until 2 or 3 aircraft landed on runway 32. We, in fact, proceeded to hold short for 2 or 3 mins. During that time we discussed the simulated engine failure and single engine procedure we intended to accomplish after being cleared for takeoff. After a delay of 2 or 3 mins, we were cleared onto runway 23 and assumed we had been cleared for takeoff. During the climb out on single engine, I observed an air carrier medium large transport touching down on or very near the 1000' marker on runway 32. I observed the medium large transport on the ground at or near my 10 O'clock position. After passing over him, while he was rolling out, the tower controller informed us of our having executed a takeoff west/O a clearance. When we passed over the medium large transport we were at or about 500' AGL. The pilot being flight checked did not observe the medium large transport T/D, because he was flying the aircraft and was maintaining altitude and heading on the aircraft flight instruments.

Title: SMT TOOK OFF WITHOUT CLRNC AND CLIMBED DIRECTLY OVER AN MLG LNDG ON INTERSECTING RWY.

Narrative: THIS EVENT TOOK PLACE AT GSO DURING AN FAR 135 CHK RIDE REQUIRED TO SATISFY FAR 135.293, FAR 135.299, AND FAR 135.297. WE HAD JUST COMPLETED A PRACTICE ILS 23 APCH, EXECUTED A FULL STOP LNDG, AND TAXIED BACK TO THE APCH END OF RWY 23, WHERE WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY AWAITING CLRNC FOR TKOF. WHEN WE ADVISED GSO TWR THAT WE WERE READY FOR TKOF ON RWY 23, THE CTLR ADVISED US THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2 OR 3 ACFT LANDED ON RWY 32. WE, IN FACT, PROCEEDED TO HOLD SHORT FOR 2 OR 3 MINS. DURING THAT TIME WE DISCUSSED THE SIMULATED ENG FAILURE AND SINGLE ENG PROC WE INTENDED TO ACCOMPLISH AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF. AFTER A DELAY OF 2 OR 3 MINS, WE WERE CLRED ONTO RWY 23 AND ASSUMED WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF. DURING THE CLBOUT ON SINGLE ENG, I OBSERVED AN ACR MLG TOUCHING DOWN ON OR VERY NEAR THE 1000' MARKER ON RWY 32. I OBSERVED THE MLG ON THE GND AT OR NEAR MY 10 O'CLOCK POS. AFTER PASSING OVER HIM, WHILE HE WAS ROLLING OUT, THE TWR CTLR INFORMED US OF OUR HAVING EXECUTED A TKOF W/O A CLRNC. WHEN WE PASSED OVER THE MLG WE WERE AT OR ABOUT 500' AGL. THE PLT BEING FLT CHKED DID NOT OBSERVE THE MLG T/D, BECAUSE HE WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND WAS MAINTAINING ALT AND HDG ON THE ACFT FLT INSTRUMENTS.
