Narrative:
On climbout the filed altitude was FL330 ATC told us to maintain FL310. He said he needed us at that altitude for a while. We both decided to get coffee and while pouring the coffee; ATC gave us a climb to FL330. I set FL330 in the fcp and pulled the knob. Distracted with the coffee pouring; I failed to confirm the aircraft going into the climb mode. A few minutes later ATC called and said; 'didn't I give you a climb to FL330?' we said; 'yes.' I realized my mistake.
