Narrative:
After leveling at FL300; flight attendant contacted cockpit via inter-phone to report strong electrical fumes in the vicinity of the mid galley. First officer was PF. I delegated aircraft control and radios to him; and I consulted QRH. The checklist was accomplished down to 'depowering ife'; 'utility buses'; and 'recirc fans.' a short time later the flight attendant reported back that the fumes became stronger. An emergency was declared and an immediate divert initiated. I requested that ATC notify the company due to task saturation and proximity to landing airport. We landed safely overweight at 203;500. Passengers were deplaned and arff began their investigation. All pertinent logbook entries accomplished.
