Narrative:
I was manipulating the controls of small transport from the left seat, practicing an engine out precision approach while under the hood. Second pilot occupied the right seat and handling ATC communications, and acting in the capacity of an instrument pilot, observed an fgt that was in close proximity to our aircraft. I then went visibility and observed an fgt ahead and slightly below us. I then discontinued the approach and made an immediate left turn to avoid the fgt wake turbulence.
