Narrative:
Requested taxi instructions from bil ground. Told to exit ramp at taxiway kilo and taxi to runway 9L. When you exit the ramp at kilo, there are 3 signs: arrow, 'a,' '9L'. The arrow sign and the alpha sign are yellow in color.left the 9L sign is red. This indicates a runway to me. We stopped and inquired why the red sign. We were told that runway 04/22 no longer was in existence and the controller had no idea what color it was. 1) my current commercial chart still included runway 04/22. 2) no NOTAMS for bil stated that 04/22 was closed. 3) incorrect color of sign which should be yellow in color to indicate direction to runway.
