Narrative:
Descending from 8000' to 5000' heading 050 degree radar vector to landing chicago mdw. Encountered a high performance sailplane in a climbing turn. We were descending at about 2000 FPM passing thru 7000'. The sailplane appeared to be about 6500' climbing. We added power and climbed to 7500'. We reported the traffic to approach who were not painting the sailplanes. They passed the traffic report to an airliner behind us who reporter 2 sailplanes at 7000' MSL.
