Narrative:

While on vectors by jax approach control to intercept runway 25 localizer at jax and on assigned altitude of 1600 MSL, a small single engine aircraft appeared from behind a cloud headed northeast bound at about 1700 MSL. I pushed nose over and was at about 1400 MSL when other aircraft passed to the right. We were headed swbnd. I climbed back to 1600 MSL. Sometime during the above incident jax approach control called and issued a warning about the other aircraft. Our flight continued to jax and landed without further incident.
