Narrative:
Normal operation regarding pushback and taxi for takeoff. No abnormal indications and checklists completed without interruption. On gear retraction; felt strong vibration in the rudder pedals and knew the gear doors remained open. ECAM showed the loss of the green hydraulics followed by an overheat of the yellow hydraulic system. Captain performed the ECAM procedures while I flew the aircraft and dealt with ATC. We declared an emergency and returned to [the departure airport]. We landed without any trouble. We were then towed to the gate after emergency personnel checked the aircraft
