Narrative:

We were cleared from FL240 to cross tandy intersection at 14000'. As we passed 14800', ATC reported VFR traffic (an air carrier light transport) at 10 O'clock at 14500'. We did see traffic at that position, but it was an air carrier jet ahead of us, several mi away. As we passed 14600', ATC said climb to 15000'. I immediately climbed to 15000'. As we levelled off, I saw the traffic pass below us,just off our left side. Apparently the air carrier had a conflict with the same aircraft, as there were some comments to that effect after our encounter. We should have been given a 15000' level off earlier in our descent to avoid the conflict.

Title: AIRBORNE CONFLICT DEVELOPED BETWEEN AN MLG AND AN LTT WHILE THE MLG WAS DESCENDING THROUGH THE LTT ALT.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FROM FL240 TO CROSS TANDY INTXN AT 14000'. AS WE PASSED 14800', ATC REPORTED VFR TFC (AN ACR LTT) AT 10 O'CLOCK AT 14500'. WE DID SEE TFC AT THAT POS, BUT IT WAS AN ACR JET AHEAD OF US, SEVERAL MI AWAY. AS WE PASSED 14600', ATC SAID CLB TO 15000'. I IMMEDIATELY CLBED TO 15000'. AS WE LEVELLED OFF, I SAW THE TFC PASS BELOW US,JUST OFF OUR LEFT SIDE. APPARENTLY THE ACR HAD A CONFLICT WITH THE SAME ACFT, AS THERE WERE SOME COMMENTS TO THAT EFFECT AFTER OUR ENCOUNTER. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A 15000' LEVEL OFF EARLIER IN OUR DSCNT TO AVOID THE CONFLICT.
