Narrative:
At FL290 cabin altitude warning light came on. Emergency descent started; first officer completed the QRH. Was not able to maintain cabin altitude in auto or manual. Masks dropped in cabin. Descended to 10;000 feet. Declared an emergency; and landed without any more problems. No passengers were harmed.

Title: MD-83 Captain reported loss of cabin pressure at FL290. Unable to control cabin pressure the flight declared an emergency; descended to 10;000 feet and continued to a safe landing.
