Narrative:

I did not read the airport note on the departure plan that the weights were valid for departure on sfo 281 degree right. We used a SID that made a right turn after takeoff to a 030 degree heading to intercept the sfo 342 degree right. Sfo tower asked if we could use this SID after we had requested the long runway for takeoff due to high gross weight. We did not review our takeoff data, however, I did wonder why they had asked. The SID that we used required a higher climb gradient for obstruction clearance than the one we should have used.

Title: ACR USED SID THAT WAS ILLEGAL FOR THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF ACFT.

Narrative: I DID NOT READ THE ARPT NOTE ON THE DEP PLAN THAT THE WEIGHTS WERE VALID FOR DEP ON SFO 281 DEG R. WE USED A SID THAT MADE A RIGHT TURN AFTER TKOF TO A 030 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT THE SFO 342 DEG R. SFO TWR ASKED IF WE COULD USE THIS SID AFTER WE HAD REQUESTED THE LONG RWY FOR TKOF DUE TO HIGH GROSS WEIGHT. WE DID NOT REVIEW OUR TKOF DATA, HOWEVER, I DID WONDER WHY THEY HAD ASKED. THE SID THAT WE USED REQUIRED A HIGHER CLIMB GRADIENT FOR OBSTRUCTION CLRNC THAN THE ONE WE SHOULD HAVE USED.
