Narrative:

1) first officer takeoff runway 7L heard 'popping sound' as rotation began. 2) aircraft settled and right wing dropped 2-3 degree. 3) simultaneously european flight called on tower 'air carrier fire right side' or to that effect. 4) captain initiated abort. 5) tower called 'fire right side and now left also air carrier'. 6) captain used maximum reverse and braking stopping right of centerline just short of overrun. 7) first officer also on full brakes. 8) tower was called for fire equipment (already on way). 9) verified with tower after shutdown no aircraft fire but small grass fire right side. 10) thumbs up from fire crew in less than a minute. 11) tower confirmed grass fire out. 12) captain elected not to egress. 13) passenger deplaned to busses via external stairs. Captain's decision was to abort. There was a lot of runway left. It did work out. There was no hesitation just a command decision. It may have flown ok on two. Something was wrong. We saw nothing in the instruments nor fire warning. Our mains never left the runway. European air carrier and tower later confirmed they did see something on the right. Cabin attendants guarded exits to prevent premature egress. Fire equipment response very fast. P.south. We melted 8 mains an brakes and at least #3 engine was changed. No other damage noted.
