Narrative:
In cruise flight at FL360 noticed smoke in cockpit. Requested a divert to [nearby suitable airport]. ATC gave us priority handling. Once established direct; first officer flying; and a descent initiated an emergency was declared. ATC was helpful. No ECAM indications of smoke. Flew an ILS with radar vectors with captain taking over control of airplane at approximately 13;000 ft. On rollout ECAM warning: avionics smoke appeared; then extinguished. Cleared the runway; stopped aircraft; and fire trucks quickly surrounded aircraft. Smoke dissipated. Did not egress aircraft. After inspection inside and out by fire department we completely depowered airplane.
