Narrative:
First officer in left seat captain (check airman) in right seat at the controls. At approximately 100 KTS on landing rollout on 13R the pilots noticed an small aircraft attempting a landing on 36. The medium large transport was at the intersection of both runways. Pilot at the controls closed thrust reversers and advanced power to clear the intersection (or to avoid collision with cockpit area). At that time the small aircraft pulled up and flew over (maybe behind) the medium large transport. The tower was advised because neither pilot had known of an small aircraft in the pattern. Tower advised that the small aircraft was on a right downwind for landing on 13 and that the pilot had mistakenly attempted a landing on 36. 1) small aircraft pilot was inexperienced (judgement made by listening to radio conversation). 2) tower should have been more aware of traffic in its pattern. 3) medium large transport pilots perhaps should have focused more attention upfield.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC. ACR LNDG ROLLOUT SAW CROSS TRAFFIC APCHING AT RWY INTERSECTION. CLOSED REVERSERS, ADDED POWER TO CROSS INTERSECTION. SECOND ACFT ABORTED LNDG.
Narrative: F/O IN LEFT SEAT CAPT (CHECK AIRMAN) IN RIGHT SEAT AT THE CONTROLS. AT APPROX 100 KTS ON LNDG ROLLOUT ON 13R THE PLTS NOTICED AN SMA ATTEMPTING A LNDG ON 36. THE MLG WAS AT THE INTXN OF BOTH RWYS. PLT AT THE CONTROLS CLOSED THRUST REVERSERS AND ADVANCED POWER TO CLEAR THE INTXN (OR TO AVOID COLLISION WITH COCKPIT AREA). AT THAT TIME THE SMA PULLED UP AND FLEW OVER (MAYBE BEHIND) THE MLG. THE TWR WAS ADVISED BECAUSE NEITHER PLT HAD KNOWN OF AN SMA IN THE PATTERN. TWR ADVISED THAT THE SMA WAS ON A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR LNDG ON 13 AND THAT THE PLT HAD MISTAKENLY ATTEMPTED A LNDG ON 36. 1) SMA PLT WAS INEXPERIENCED (JUDGEMENT MADE BY LISTENING TO RADIO CONVERSATION). 2) TWR SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE OF TFC IN ITS PATTERN. 3) MLG PLTS PERHAPS SHOULD HAVE FOCUSED MORE ATTN UPFIELD.
