Narrative:
Departing albany, ny, runway 19, advanced throttles toward takeoff thrust and while passing through 1.7 EPR the aft cargo door light came on. I closed the throttles and went into reverse (estimated 30 KTS). While slowing to taxi speed, I decided not to use the brakes in order to keep them cool. I returned to the ramp and maintenance found that the aft cargo door was open. They resecured the door and released us, however, I decided to wait and satisfy the brake cooling chart (15 mins) even though I did not use the brakes. We taxied back out and the same scenario happened. This time I realized the problem was greater than just a suspect baggage handler. So I aborted the takeoff at about 40-50 KTS 1.65 EPR and returned to the gate. A broken spring was found to be the problem in the cargo door locking mechanism.

Title: TWO SUCCESSIVE TKOF ATTEMPTS ABORTED FOR CARGO DOOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION.
Narrative: DEPARTING ALBANY, NY, RWY 19, ADVANCED THROTTLES TOWARD TKOF THRUST AND WHILE PASSING THROUGH 1.7 EPR THE AFT CARGO DOOR LIGHT CAME ON. I CLOSED THE THROTTLES AND WENT INTO REVERSE (ESTIMATED 30 KTS). WHILE SLOWING TO TAXI SPEED, I DECIDED NOT TO USE THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO KEEP THEM COOL. I RETURNED TO THE RAMP AND MAINT FOUND THAT THE AFT CARGO DOOR WAS OPEN. THEY RESECURED THE DOOR AND RELEASED US, HOWEVER, I DECIDED TO WAIT AND SATISFY THE BRAKE COOLING CHART (15 MINS) EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT USE THE BRAKES. WE TAXIED BACK OUT AND THE SAME SCENARIO HAPPENED. THIS TIME I REALIZED THE PROBLEM WAS GREATER THAN JUST A SUSPECT BAGGAGE HANDLER.
