Narrative:
While making a landing at a 1600' grass private airstrip my aircraft came into contact with a horse trailer that passed directly in front of me on short final. A county road passes directly off the end of the runway. Trees line the road obstructing vision of the road. While on final no traffic was observed. On short final just before flare I observed a tall horse trailer directly in front of me traveling at a fairly high rate of speed. In an attempt to miss the trailer I initiated a go around by adding full power and pulled sharply back on the yoke to climb. Unfortunately I was unable to clear the trailer and essentially bounced off the roof of the trailer and proceeded to execute a go around. Observed no visual damage to landing gear and continued in the pattern and made an uneventful landing. After landing and shut down I met with the irate owner of the horse trailer with a dent and skid marks on the roof. A discussion ensued as to who was at fault and insurance information was exchanged. I feel one of the main reasons this event occurred was the fact that trees and shrubs block the view of traffic on the road. Signs which had been erected along the road signifying the presence of landing aircraft were removed for road paving and were not put back up. The owner of the trailer involved knew about the runway and lives within sight of the airstrip and had my aircraft in sight even though I didn't have the trailer in sight, yet continued on directly in front of the runway without yielding. Some damage was done to the trailer. The proper authorities were notified as well as the FAA.
