Narrative:
Engine out; switched tank (right to left), noted fuel indicated over 1/4 on right tank with 1/2 indicated on left tank. Declared emergency, squawked 7700. Engine restarted; cancelled emergency, squawked 1200. Continued to destination and descent into hartford-brainard. When safely on ground, switched back to left tank, which still indicated ample fuel. Upon inspection by mechanic and refueling, confirmed erroneous fuel tank reading.
Original NASA ASRS Text
