1974 C185 on edo 2790 amphib floats; 2 people on board; 70 gallons of fuel (5 knot wind to calm). After water landing; I taxied on lake for 15 minutes then went to beach to shut down; pumped the floats. I then started up; idle taxied toward center of lake; cleared area to begin a step taxi run. As soon as power was applied the prop struck water and aircraft nosed over. There was ample time to evacuate. Edo 2790 may be marginal for the C185.
