Narrative:

Original company release and flight plans showed gum-mnl-gum routing. Just prior to blocking out of mnl station agent handed up new paperwork which contained a revised release and destination for saipan. I had already obtained an ATC clearance to guam and did not notice the revision (neither did either other pilot). After leveling at FL330, hnl selcaled us and said our company wanted us to confirm our destination. We told hnl it was guam. No further discussion took place until checking in with gum center (200 mi out), when gum center asked if we had resolved our destination with our company. We then called company and were advised that they wanted us to land saipan. We then requested a revised clearance to saipan (after determining fuel requirements) and were cleared to saipan. Several factors contributed to the confusion: 1) we (cockpit crew) did not receive the paperwork until the last minute (literally). No mention of the change was made by our agent. 2) agents on duty were not the regulars. 3) routing for either destination is identical for the first half of the trip. The routing for either destination is read as, '...flight plan route.' summary: apparently ATC considered us cleared to guam just as we did. I believe the mix-up was confined to the company, but it could have easily involved ATC if we had been given a clearance to saipan and the controller(south) had failed to note the destination I read back (guam). I DOD not recall anyone in ATC ever mentioning that they had 2 different flight plans for us--although there must have been!

Title: LGT FLT MNL TO GUM. 200 MILES OUT FROM GUM, ATC QUERIED AND FLT CREW WERE APPRISED THEIR DEST WAS SAIPAN.

Narrative: ORIGINAL COMPANY RELEASE AND FLT PLANS SHOWED GUM-MNL-GUM ROUTING. JUST PRIOR TO BLOCKING OUT OF MNL STATION AGENT HANDED UP NEW PAPERWORK WHICH CONTAINED A REVISED RELEASE AND DEST FOR SAIPAN. I HAD ALREADY OBTAINED AN ATC CLRNC TO GUAM AND DID NOT NOTICE THE REVISION (NEITHER DID EITHER OTHER PLT). AFTER LEVELING AT FL330, HNL SELCALED US AND SAID OUR COMPANY WANTED US TO CONFIRM OUR DEST. WE TOLD HNL IT WAS GUAM. NO FURTHER DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE UNTIL CHKING IN WITH GUM CENTER (200 MI OUT), WHEN GUM CENTER ASKED IF WE HAD RESOLVED OUR DEST WITH OUR COMPANY. WE THEN CALLED COMPANY AND WERE ADVISED THAT THEY WANTED US TO LAND SAIPAN. WE THEN REQUESTED A REVISED CLRNC TO SAIPAN (AFTER DETERMINING FUEL REQUIREMENTS) AND WERE CLRED TO SAIPAN. 3) ROUTING FOR EITHER DEST IS IDENTICAL FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE TRIP. THE ROUTING FOR EITHER DEST IS READ AS, '...FLT PLAN ROUTE.' SUMMARY: APPARENTLY ATC CONSIDERED US CLRED TO GUAM JUST AS WE DID. I BELIEVE THE MIX-UP WAS CONFINED TO THE COMPANY, BUT IT COULD HAVE EASILY INVOLVED ATC IF WE HAD BEEN GIVEN A CLRNC TO SAIPAN AND THE CTLR(S) HAD FAILED TO NOTE THE DEST I READ BACK (GUAM). I DOD NOT RECALL ANYONE IN ATC EVER MENTIONING THAT THEY HAD 2 DIFFERENT FLT PLANS FOR US--ALTHOUGH THERE MUST HAVE BEEN!
