Narrative:
During a flight check the aircraft had made 2 lndgs and returned later for a third which terminated at the gate. Upon taxiing into the gate a maintenance person advised me that the left inboard wheel was missing. Upon inspection it was observed missing. It was also observed that the axle nut, grease beads and retainer were still attached to the axle. There were no problems with steering to indicate a missing wheel. Also it was noted that the axle was very dry, indicating there might have been insufficient lubrication. Tire and wheel have not been located as of this date. In reference to item 14, it is unknown as to what applies to this type of occurrence.
