Narrative:
Climbing from 370 to 390, #2 engine compressor stalled, overtemped and shook violently. Declared emergency and began immediate descent. Airplane shook all the way to the ground. All controls normal. On ground, discovered holes in cowl from compressor blade that left the engine.

Title: #2 ENGINE ON WIDE BODY TYPE ACFT FAILED IN CLIMB AT FL380. FLT LANDED DEN.
Narrative: CLIMBING FROM 370 TO 390, #2 ENGINE COMPRESSOR STALLED, OVERTEMPED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. DECLARED EMER AND BEGAN IMMEDIATE DESCENT. AIRPLANE SHOOK ALL THE WAY TO THE GND. ALL CONTROLS NORMAL. ON GND, DISCOVERED HOLES IN COWL FROM COMPRESSOR BLADE THAT LEFT THE ENGINE.
