Narrative:
Departing IFR from hwo [I] was asked by hwo if I was familiar with sheridan departure. I was; even though it is a non-published procedure. Question - why is it unpublished? Clearance included the miami 2 departure (SID). Departed runway 10R; tower gave me a right downwind departure. However; the sheridan departure required a left downwind. I requested and received a correction; and departed with a left downwind at or below 1;600. Meanwhile; I had not loaded the miami 2 departure in my G1000. I have flown this several times in the past as I have maintenance on my aircraft done at hwo; and did not expect difficulty despite the entry while airborne. Once airborne; and in a 1;500 ft downwind; I attempted to load the miami 2 departure. I could not find the SID under hwo nor under mia. (I have since confirmed with jeppesen the SID was been omitted from the G1000 database; but the reason for the omission was not provided). Several years ago the miami departure could only be downloaded under mia; and not the other four airfields to which the SID applies. As I had a paper copy; I entered the waypoints. I entered drumm and not druum; and turned to a heading provided; to join the first leg of the SID. This was of course wrong; and as I began an erroneous turn; mia ATC questioned my heading. I request and received a direct hedly to which solved the problem. Solution: publish the sheridan departure procedure. Assure jeppesen databases are complete with all sids and stars under each airport where they apply.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An pilot departed HWO on the unpublished VFR SHERIDAN/SHORELINE Departure but his G1000 database did not contain it or the following IFR Miami Two Departure segment; so he entered the DRUMM waypoint; instead of DRUUM; and turned toward it. ATC detected the incorrect turn and cleared him on the departure direct HEDLY.
