Narrative:

I was the first officer on flight from sfo to phx. The captain was flying the aircraft. We were issued a clearance to cross the plsnt intersection at 12,000 MSL and 250 KTS. While level at FL250, the captain programmed the FMC for the path descent. As we approached the crossing restriction, approximately 60 NM out, I asked the captain if he had heard the crossing restriction. He conveyed to me that he had. When I noticed that the FMC had miscomputed the descent point, I again asked the captain when he was going to start down. When it became obvious to me that we were not going to make the restriction, ie, we were level at FL250, 9 NM from the crossing fix at .77, I asked the captain if he wanted me to advice ATC. He said yes.
