Narrative:
During cruise/descent, ZDC issued a clearance to be level at 9000', 20 mi west of fak (flat rock VOR). After acknowledging this clearance, resetting the altitude alerter to 9000', and confirming that captain had also heard the clearance, I received permission to contact by radio (from captain) our operations in ric (richmond, va) to inform them of our need to have the aircraft's lavatory (right rear) dumped. After accomplishing this task, and returning to the primary communication radio, I heard captain stating, 'I guess we're not going to make it'. Hearing this and having completed my other radio communication call, I acknowledged the next center call, one to turn right to 180 degree. We heard another call go to another aircraft instructing it to 'turn left 30 degree for conflicting traffic'. We were then instructed to continue our right turn so as to roll out on our previous (original) heading (approximately 90 degree). On the ground, I asked captain if he thought we should call the center by phone, or at least debrief the occurrence via a NASA report. This being my first leg of a 3-DAY trip and never having met captain previously, I was somewhat surprised by his reply. That if I felt the need to complete a NASA form go right ahead, but god would 'take care' of him! I wonder if the passenger would have been reassured?

Title: MLG FLT CREW MISSED CROSSING RESTRICTION, GIVEN VECTORS TO AVOID CONFLICTING TRAFFIC.
Narrative: DURING CRUISE/DESCENT, ZDC ISSUED A CLRNC TO BE LEVEL AT 9000', 20 MI W OF FAK (FLAT ROCK VOR). AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING THIS CLRNC, RESETTING THE ALT ALERTER TO 9000', AND CONFIRMING THAT CAPT HAD ALSO HEARD THE CLRNC, I RECEIVED PERMISSION TO CONTACT BY RADIO (FROM CAPT) OUR OPERATIONS IN RIC (RICHMOND, VA) TO INFORM THEM OF OUR NEED TO HAVE THE ACFT'S LAVATORY (RIGHT REAR) DUMPED. AFTER ACCOMPLISHING THIS TASK, AND RETURNING TO THE PRIMARY COM RADIO, I HEARD CAPT STATING, 'I GUESS WE'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT'. HEARING THIS AND HAVING COMPLETED MY OTHER RADIO COM CALL, I ACKNOWLEDGED THE NEXT CENTER CALL, ONE TO TURN RIGHT TO 180 DEG. WE HEARD ANOTHER CALL GO TO ANOTHER ACFT INSTRUCTING IT TO 'TURN LEFT 30 DEG FOR CONFLICTING TFC'. WE WERE THEN INSTRUCTED TO CONTINUE OUR RIGHT TURN SO AS TO ROLL OUT ON OUR PREVIOUS (ORIGINAL) HDG (APPROX 90 DEG). ON THE GND, I ASKED CAPT IF HE THOUGHT WE SHOULD CALL THE CENTER BY PHONE, OR AT LEAST DEBRIEF THE OCCURRENCE VIA A NASA REPORT. THIS BEING MY FIRST LEG OF A 3-DAY TRIP AND NEVER HAVING MET CAPT PREVIOUSLY, I WAS SOMEWHAT SURPRISED BY HIS REPLY. THAT IF I FELT THE NEED TO COMPLETE A NASA FORM GO RIGHT AHEAD, BUT GOD WOULD 'TAKE CARE' OF HIM! I WONDER IF THE PAX WOULD HAVE BEEN REASSURED?
