Narrative:

I was cleared to land runway 15 and told I was number two. I saw a cessna on the runway and misjudged it as the number one aircraft. Tower asked if I had the aircraft at sight and at that point I thought it was the aircraft on the runway he was referring to so I confirmed I had aircraft at sight. He came in again and asked if I had aircraft short final at sight and I reported I was still looking out for traffic. He told the aircraft to terminate the approach and told me to turn left immediately which I did. He told me to inform my instructor to contact the tower upon landing.
