Narrative:
During climbout we were cleared to 17,000'. We switched to a new frequency and advised that we were leveling at 17,000'. She then cleared us to FL230. As we passed 18,500' she told us to level at FL190. We acknowledged level at FL190. She then told us to level at FL180. We pushed over to FL180 as she gave us a vector to the west for traffic. We acknowledged level at FL180 and asked the location of the traffic. After some hesitation she pointed out traffic passing to the right at 3 O'clock. The problem with all of this is that obviously there was an error, but the controller did not seem very concerned at all about it during or after the event conversation. Our estimate of the miss distance is based on our post-event sighting.

Title: CLOSE PROX LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION BETWEEN ACR-MLG UNK ACFT AT FL190 SE OF SXC.
Narrative: DURING CLIMBOUT WE WERE CLRED TO 17,000'. WE SWITCHED TO A NEW FREQ AND ADVISED THAT WE WERE LEVELING AT 17,000'. SHE THEN CLRED US TO FL230. AS WE PASSED 18,500' SHE TOLD US TO LEVEL AT FL190. WE ACKNOWLEDGED LEVEL AT FL190. SHE THEN TOLD US TO LEVEL AT FL180. WE PUSHED OVER TO FL180 AS SHE GAVE US A VECTOR TO THE W FOR TFC. WE ACKNOWLEDGED LEVEL AT FL180 AND ASKED THE LOCATION OF THE TFC. AFTER SOME HESITATION SHE POINTED OUT TFC PASSING TO THE RIGHT AT 3 O'CLOCK. THE PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THIS IS THAT OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS AN ERROR, BUT THE CTLR DID NOT SEEM VERY CONCERNED AT ALL ABOUT IT DURING OR AFTER THE EVENT CONVERSATION. OUR ESTIMATE OF THE MISS DISTANCE IS BASED ON OUR POST-EVENT SIGHTING.
