Narrative:
Clearance delivery was called for clearance sna to sjc. I copied the clearance to read: 'musel 5 departure, musel, vectors sxc 084 degree right, sxc direct vtu as filed; climb to 7000', expect FL350, departure frequency 128.1, squawk XXXX.' I read the entire clearance back. After takeoff switched to 128.1, climbing through 3700' the controller asked how high we were climbing. I responded, '7000'.' he asked if we got that from tower. I said no, 'clearance delivery.' he said that the clearance should have been to 3000', but there was no problem and we could maintain 7000'. The controller said he would call sna clearance delivery and discuss it with them.

Narrative: CLRNC DELIVERY WAS CALLED FOR CLRNC SNA TO SJC. I COPIED THE CLRNC TO READ: 'MUSEL 5 DEP, MUSEL, VECTORS SXC 084 DEG R, SXC DIRECT VTU AS FILED; CLB TO 7000', EXPECT FL350, DEP FREQ 128.1, SQUAWK XXXX.' I READ THE ENTIRE CLRNC BACK. AFTER TKOF SWITCHED TO 128.1, CLBING THROUGH 3700' THE CTLR ASKED HOW HIGH WE WERE CLBING. I RESPONDED, '7000'.' HE ASKED IF WE GOT THAT FROM TWR. I SAID NO, 'CLRNC DELIVERY.' HE SAID THAT THE CLRNC SHOULD HAVE BEEN TO 3000', BUT THERE WAS NO PROB AND WE COULD MAINTAIN 7000'. THE CTLR SAID HE WOULD CALL SNA CLRNC DELIVERY AND DISCUSS IT WITH THEM.
