Narrative:

We were cleared msp rst alo J233 stl J45 bna. At alo, with reference to the us (hi) 7 chart, we departed on the alo 152 degree right. There is a solid blue jet arwy shown between alo and stl, however there is no # shown on it. We were discussing this and trying to determine if this was in fact J233 when center called to question our course. We explained our confusion and the controller pointed out that J233 was the alo 178 degree right outbnd, we made an immediate correction. Shortly thereafter the controller called back with a clearance direct to stl. I believe this navigation error could have been prevented if the direct jet route between alo and stl displayed a # on it. If that had been the case we would have known it was not J233 and would have easily found the correct course. I believe this situation presents a trap which should be eliminated by revising the us (hi) 7 chart.
