Narrative:

Air carrier medium large transport Y cleared to land runway 25R. Our widebody transport type cleared for takeoff 25R. A male and female voice had been alternating on 120.95. A female cleared us, air carrier aircraft X, into position on 25R at intersection 8 (the displaced threshold). I moved about 60' (about 3' past stop line) and stopped and queried tower about aircraft Y (about 1 min final) being cleared to land on 25R. Was positively told he was cleared to land on 25L. I replied that he appeared to be lined up for the right. Very shortly thereafter, aircraft Y executed a go around at about 100' over displaced threshold, then notified tower they were going around and were cleared to land on 25R. I was again cleared into position, and as I was stopping, heard a comment from the tower (I believe during apology to aircraft Y) to the effect that training was going on. Increased traffic, shortage of controllers and much controller OJT requires that everyone be very alert. I don't know where the pilots of aircraft Y were during at least 1 1/2 mins of dialogue between the tower and me; I don't believe either one was listening or aware of the situation until the last mins.

Title: AT 25R ONE ACFT IS CLEARED INTO POSITION AS ANOTHER ACR ACFT IS ON A 1 MILE FINAL AND IS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT HE WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON 25R. LNDG ACFT GOES AROUND AS GND ACFT IS JUST OVER THE HOLD LINE.

Narrative: ACR MLG Y CLRED TO LAND RWY 25R. OUR WDB TYPE CLRED FOR TKOF 25R. A MALE AND FEMALE VOICE HAD BEEN ALTERNATING ON 120.95. A FEMALE CLRED US, ACR ACFT X, INTO POS ON 25R AT INTXN 8 (THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD). I MOVED ABOUT 60' (ABOUT 3' PAST STOP LINE) AND STOPPED AND QUERIED TWR ABOUT ACFT Y (ABOUT 1 MIN FINAL) BEING CLRED TO LAND ON 25R. WAS POSITIVELY TOLD HE WAS CLRED TO LAND ON 25L. I REPLIED THAT HE APPEARED TO BE LINED UP FOR THE RIGHT. VERY SHORTLY THEREAFTER, ACFT Y EXECUTED A GAR AT ABOUT 100' OVER DISPLACED THRESHOLD, THEN NOTIFIED TWR THEY WERE GOING AROUND AND WERE CLRED TO LAND ON 25R. I WAS AGAIN CLRED INTO POS, AND AS I WAS STOPPING, HEARD A COMMENT FROM THE TWR (I BELIEVE DURING APOLOGY TO ACFT Y) TO THE EFFECT THAT TRNING WAS GOING ON. INCREASED TFC, SHORTAGE OF CTLRS AND MUCH CTLR OJT REQUIRES THAT EVERYONE BE VERY ALERT. I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE PLTS OF ACFT Y WERE DURING AT LEAST 1 1/2 MINS OF DIALOGUE BTWN THE TWR AND ME; I DON'T BELIEVE EITHER ONE WAS LISTENING OR AWARE OF THE SITUATION UNTIL THE LAST MINS.
