Narrative:
In block altitude FL370/390; encountered severe turbulence; descended to FL350 to light turbulence. All crew and passenger seated....no injuries...ATC and dispatch notified. Shortly after the turbulence encounter; the #1 hydraulic system failed. Accomplished the appropriate check list. Continued to [destination].....and landed [safely]. We were able to clear the runway (no nose gear or body steering). Shut down the engines and got towed into the gate. Debriefed with the base chief pilot.

Title: Upon descending to exit moderate to severe turbulence; the flight crew of a B747 was met by a hydraulic system one failure. They continued to descend to an efficient altitude and landed uneventfully.
Narrative: In block altitude FL370/390; encountered severe turbulence; descended to FL350 to light turbulence. All crew and PAX seated....no injuries...ATC and Dispatch notified. Shortly after the turbulence encounter; the #1 Hydraulic system failed. Accomplished the appropriate check list. Continued to [destination].....and landed [safely].
