Narrative:
En route from fat to sna over burbank at 9000' MSL, the right engine fire light illuminated. At the same time we were instructed by burbank (124.6) to contact lax approach (128.05). The initial engine fire phase I checklist was performed and right engine fire was confirmed (by light). Upon completion of securing the engine with the rest of the phase I checklist, the first officer was instructed to go ahead and contact lax approach, advise them of the engine fire light, and that we would be landing at lax. We received clearance for present heading, descend to 7000'. We reviewed the phase I by the book and completed the phase ii checklist. As the first officer was informing lax company operations of our situation, lax approach asked if lax airport was in sight. That was confirmed and the controller cleared us pilots discretion direct lax airport, visual to 24L at lax. He advised that there would be no traffic on the north complex, traffic would be on the south complex. He asked for fuel and souls on board, which was 800# and 10 passenger. First officer advised passenger of precautionary shutdown and landing at lax. He advised to prepare for normal landing. We were switched to tower (133.9) and cleared to land 24L and that equipment was ready. Single engine before landing check was completed and normal landing occurred. After ensuring good braking, we exited 24L on taxiway 52 and stopped in the maintenance area. As we shut down, emergency equipment and crews surrounded the aircraft. As a precaution the captain evacuated the passenger out the normal exit and grouped them away from the aircraft. First officer finished securing the act. Fire crews inspected the aircraft, determined that it was safe and left. A los angeles airport bus transported the passenger to the terminal. Our maintenance crew showed up, inspected the engine, determined there was no fire and a mechanic told us to taxi to the gate while he rode along. The last lax emergency member left as we returned to the gave. Maintenance repaired the warning system and returned aircraft to us. We repositioned to sna and finished the shift. Report was then filed. This was a false warning light caused by a sensor at the engine. Engine fire checklists were performed and emergency landing at lax. Due to this being a mechanical fault, it is unknown what future corrective action is being taken.

Title: SMT FLT CREW ENROUTE TO SNA HAD ENGINE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATE. DIVERTED TO LAX.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM FAT TO SNA OVER BURBANK AT 9000' MSL, THE RIGHT ENGINE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AT THE SAME TIME WE WERE INSTRUCTED BY BURBANK (124.6) TO CONTACT LAX APCH (128.05). THE INITIAL ENGINE FIRE PHASE I CHECKLIST WAS PERFORMED AND RIGHT ENGINE FIRE WAS CONFIRMED (BY LIGHT). UPON COMPLETION OF SECURING THE ENGINE WITH THE REST OF THE PHASE I CHECKLIST, THE F/O WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO AHEAD AND CONTACT LAX APCH, ADVISE THEM OF THE ENGINE FIRE LIGHT, AND THAT WE WOULD BE LNDG AT LAX. WE RECEIVED CLRNC FOR PRESENT HDG, DSND TO 7000'. WE REVIEWED THE PHASE I BY THE BOOK AND COMPLETED THE PHASE II CHECKLIST. AS THE F/O WAS INFORMING LAX COMPANY OPERATIONS OF OUR SITUATION, LAX APCH ASKED IF LAX ARPT WAS IN SIGHT. THAT WAS CONFIRMED AND THE CTLR CLRED US PLTS DISCRETION DIRECT LAX ARPT, VISUAL TO 24L AT LAX. HE ADVISED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO TFC ON THE NORTH COMPLEX, TFC WOULD BE ON THE SOUTH COMPLEX. HE ASKED FOR FUEL AND SOULS ON BOARD, WHICH WAS 800# AND 10 PAX. F/O ADVISED PAX OF PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN AND LNDG AT LAX. HE ADVISED TO PREPARE FOR NORMAL LNDG. WE WERE SWITCHED TO TWR (133.9) AND CLRED TO LAND 24L AND THAT EQUIPMENT WAS READY. SINGLE ENGINE BEFORE LNDG CHECK WAS COMPLETED AND NORMAL LNDG OCCURRED. AFTER ENSURING GOOD BRAKING, WE EXITED 24L ON TXWY 52 AND STOPPED IN THE MAINT AREA. AS WE SHUT DOWN, EMER EQUIPMENT AND CREWS SURROUNDED THE ACFT. AS A PRECAUTION THE CAPT EVACUATED THE PAX OUT THE NORMAL EXIT AND GROUPED THEM AWAY FROM THE ACFT. F/O FINISHED SECURING THE ACT. FIRE CREWS INSPECTED THE ACFT, DETERMINED THAT IT WAS SAFE AND LEFT. A LOS ANGELES ARPT BUS TRANSPORTED THE PAX TO THE TERMINAL. OUR MAINT CREW SHOWED UP, INSPECTED THE ENGINE, DETERMINED THERE WAS NO FIRE AND A MECHANIC TOLD US TO TAXI TO THE GATE WHILE HE RODE ALONG. THE LAST LAX EMER MEMBER LEFT AS WE RETURNED TO THE GAVE. MAINT REPAIRED THE WARNING SYSTEM AND RETURNED ACFT TO US. WE REPOSITIONED TO SNA AND FINISHED THE SHIFT. REPORT WAS THEN FILED. THIS WAS A FALSE WARNING LIGHT CAUSED BY A SENSOR AT THE ENGINE. ENGINE FIRE CHECKLISTS WERE PERFORMED AND EMER LNDG AT LAX. DUE TO THIS BEING A MECHANICAL FAULT, IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT FUTURE CORRECTIVE ACTION IS BEING TAKEN.
