Narrative:
Approach had cleared us to 3000 ft approaching agnal fix for RNAV runway 08. Terrain mapping was on but was not painting terrain in the area. Broken cloud conditions with good visibility underneath. We were both familiar with approach and terrain. Terrain 'pull up' warning suddenly activated so we climbed to 4000. Went back to 3000 by agnal and continued approach.terrain mapping function seemed to not be functioning properly. No terrain was painting when sudden warning occurred.
