Narrative:
Departure from merced to san francisco. First officer was PF. Normal takeoff runway 30, left-hand turn to 280. Climbing thru 1000' first officer called for propellers 85, climb check. Air conditioning was then turned on. As the propellers were reduced to 85% north, a loud bang was heard and a dull jolt was felt by the captain through the floor. We checked all system gauges and warning lights and all appeared normal. Visual inspection of wings and engines appeared normal. After completing the climb check, a faint odor was detected. Captain looked back toward our only passenger and he was waving his arms and saying it was getting hot. A light haze/smoke was preset in the cabin. Captain turned off air conditioning and advised the first officer of cabin smoke. We agreed to turn left to return to merced airport. Bang, heat, smoke caused by broken clamp on bleed line. Emergency landing performed at mce, phase I and ii reviewed. Aircraft returned to service after repair. Due to mechanical nature of incident it is unknown what future actions will be taken to correct the situation.
