Narrative:

After being cleared for descent from 25,000' to 17,000' the copilot started the descent and approach checklists. I stopped the copilot at the altimeter setting because we levelled at FL190. When cleared to descend to 11,000' we never resumed the checklist. We were then cleared to 9000'. When level there, we realized that we had not completed the checklist and the altimeters were set at 29.92 the local altimeter was 30.50 that day, meaning each time we leveled off, we had been 580' above our assigned altitude. Recommendation, when you interrupt a checklist the non flying pilot should keep the checklist in his hand to remind him that it has not been completed.
