Narrative:
Immediately after receiving takeoff clearance from tower, F/a called cockpit to report strong odor and possible smoke. We taxied off runway and directed her to inspect further. We then notified tower of our intentions to return to our gate. F/a reported smoke in cabin. We then advised tower/ground of our intent to evacuate/evacuation aircraft. Tower ground notified crash fire rescue equipment at our request. We evacuated aircraft as per training and all emergency checklists. There were no injuries. Maintenance said front freon had frozen up and a burnt motor was source of smoke/odor.
