Narrative:

The owner of the airplane wanted me to give him instruction in his airplane. He is a student pilot with about 30 hours of flight time. He flew it back from calif to new orleans without getting his pilot's logbook filled out by a CFI. What we were doing was touch-and-goes on 18L. The approach, base to final, look good. The last word from the tower was clear for touch and go. The propeller separated from the hub. We touched down and he powered up for touch-and-go. We heard a big bang. The engine broke from the engine mounts. Parts of the mount came off and cracked the windshield. The airplane came to a stop between 18L and taxiway C. Nobody was injured. In the plane there were 3 on board. WX was clear and 10 mi visibility.
