Narrative:

Taxi instructions from tower: 'departure runway 12R. Taxi by first officer, backtaxi to D on 12L and run-up there.' after run-up, I was told to taxi into place and hold. As I taxied along D, was told to turn right after departure to 240 degrees and was told twice to watch for a departing small aircraft single departing on runway 17. While taxiing and watching that aircraft, I came to 17 first, and still watching the small aircraft, lined up on 17 and held. Tower then cleared me for takeoff and I forgot to double-check heading, and departed on 17, behind the small aircraft. As I started turning to 240 degrees, tower advised me of my mistake, which I acknowledged and apologized for. The small aircraft had continued south, and I maintained visibility sep and there was no close proximity of the 2 aircraft at any time.
