Wake turbulence suspected: we were aware of the other aircraft by ATC & TCAS. Other aircraft was level at FL400 same direction approximately 12-17 miles ahead. Turbulence was bordering on moderate. No vertical acceleration was noticed.aircraft change in attitude: pitch: 3deg down roll: 15-20deg yaw: no significant changes. There was buffeting. No stick shaker. Autopilot was engaged but self-disconnected. No auto throttles were engaged
