Narrative:
We were cleared to jayxx and we read back ghats. Both are on the route and they both sound very similar. The controller never said we read back the wrong waypoint; and we never thought twice. We were asked (after a period of time) our last assigned waypoint. It was at this point we told ATC ghats and she told us we read the wrong one back; probably; but it was ok. After discussing this with the captain we both agreed they sound very similar and probably shouldn't be so close. Nonetheless it was my responsibility and I was wrong.preventative measures: new waypoint name or not so close they sound very similar.
