Narrative:
We were given vectors prior to the arc for the ILS DME 2 runway 10. We were at 180 knots; flaps 15/15; and north of final approach course. After a vector to join the localizer; ATC cleared us for the approach and for a descent. Shortly after beginning the descent in V/south; we received the 'terrain ahead' alert followed by the 'pull up; terrain!' at this point I firewalled the throttles; disconnected the autopilot; and began an aggressive climb toward the min safe altitude. We coordinated with ATC; leveled off; and received vectors back to final.

Title: Flight crew on a radar vector to the ILS DME 2 RWY 19 at MMGL experienced an EGPWS terrain warning during descent to 6500 feet at ATC direction. The flying First Officer immediately abandoned the approach using maximum power and climbed to the MSA. The second approach was uneventful.

We coordinated with ATC; leveled off; and received vectors back to final.
