Narrative:
I took off VFR from N92 and flew direct to ood VORTAC and then direct to N12. The WX was VFR all the way and my transponder was squawking 1200 with altitude readout. I was scanning the area constantly as I was evaluating the repairs done on my DME and inadvertently the limits of the TCA got away from me as I was tracking the distance to and from the VORTAC.
