Narrative:
During a biennial flight review with my instructor; we had just recovered from an approach to landing stall and were setting up for another; when the engine stopped. We immediately notified ATC; identified a field to land in; and began several restart attempts. After less than a minute; the engine sputtered to life and after another 15-20 seconds returned to full rpm. We returned to [departure airport] where I am based and went immediately to the shop. At their request; I phoned ATC; and advised them that we had safely returned to the airport.
