Narrative:

On takeoff with gear retraction, got nose gear red unsafe light. Recycled gear. Got no nose gear light, only 'red'. Recycled a few more times, same indication. Did abnormal procedure in book. Also did fly by. Tower advised gear looked down. However, was not getting 'laws' aural warning that gear was not down. Pin looked normal. Decided to declare emergency, came back around for normal landing. Maintenance could not find problem, cancelled flight. Took aircraft to hangar.
